We've Been Here a While!

The first meeting was in a schoolhouse.

The Community Church of Keyport was founded in April of 1847, under the direction of the Rev. A. C. Millspaugh, the congregation began with only 13 members.  We are and continue to be a congregation of the Reformed Church in America, the oldest Protestant denomination with a continuous ministry in the United States.

The Reformed Church is derived from the great Protestant movement in the Sixteenth Century, when the Church was reformed in accordance with the teachings of the Word of God. The Reformed Church is the major church in The Netherlands and also in  Scotland, where it took the name "Presbyterian".

Reformed Church of America
The RCA is evangelical in spirit and catholic (universal) in its belief that all people who are reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ, are one. The Order of the Church is Presbyterian, meaning that the oversight of the local congregation is the responsibility of the Consistory, which is composed of Deacons and Elders, together with the Minister.

CCK is a member of the N.J. Council of Churches, the National Council of Churches of Christ of the U.S.A., and the World Council of Churches.

United Church of Christ

God is still speaking! Which is why the United Church of Christ (UCC) uses the "comma" as a profound witness to our ever-revealing, ever-present Spirit of Love at work in Creation.

In 2018,  CCK proudly affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Founded in 1957, the UCC is a progressive mainline Protestant Christian denomination with historical confessional roots in the Congregational, Reformed, and Lutheran traditions. It is a diverse and inclusive faith community centered on doing justice,  seeking peace,  building community,  and welcoming all people regardless of background. The UCC emphasizes the autonomy of local churches and holds a theologically liberal stance, advocating for social justice at national and global levels.  We welcome the social justice positions of our new denomination. The Community Church of Keyport is a member of the New Jersey Association (NJA) of the United Church of Christ in the Central Atlantic Conference (CAC).
